Woodworking projects

Cakestand

I made a cakestand for my sister - cherry and maple top with a turned walnut stem and a marble lamp base for the bottom.

Planter Box

Quick weekend project made out of redwood 5/8” x 5.5” fence pickets and 2x2s. None of the miters are very tight…

Whale Cutting Board

Walnut and maple whale shaped cutting board for a Christmas gift

Bookshelf

3/4” Maple ply with a hardwood maple face frame.

Gate Arch

An arch with trellis made of 2x 2x10s to hold the gate opening to the proper width.

Picture Frame

This all cherry frame and mounted poster was a birthday gift for a friend. The poster is from James Hoffman’s website.

Cutting Board 2

My first endgrain board using maple and walnut leftover from a failed chess board build.

Cutting Board 1

More like a serving tray/charcuterie board, this was maple, walnut, and cherry.

raised planter

Redwood framed planter, plastic lined with galvanized roof stock for the sides. All load bearing wood-wood joints are Mortise and Tenon. Also has an automatic watering system.

Nightstand

3/4” birch ply and hardwood maple face edging. The legs are 2” round dowel stock with a steel plate to attach it to the bottom.

Chess board

I built a chess board for my friend. Walnut and Maple for the squares, and a Mahogany frame. The board is rabbeted such that it “floats” on top the frame to hopefully allow for seasonal expansion/contraction. Standard miters for the frame. This was one of my first true hardwood projects.

Little Free Library

I built a little free library for my Aunt - 1/2” plywood box with two doors with acrylic panels, cabinet hardware, and a painted galvanized steel roof. It also has an automatic interior solar light.
